Many people absolutely love taking photographs. Some go and buy a fancy new digital camera with lots of buttons on it and a nice big lens. It looks great and they look like a professional photographer! But the truth is they don't really know what they are doing and just stick it on the "auto" setting and hope for the best. Does that sound familiar to you?

Well not to worry, I won't tell anyone if you don't. But I would like to help you if I can.

I like to teach people the basics of camera operations so they can get off auto and onto manual which is the secret behind taking fantastic photographs that will make your friends go "oooh, that's good, who took that?"

We can cover all the essential camera operations you'll need to know, including:

After learning the theory, many students like to practice shooting together. This also affords plenty of opportunity to ask me questions, and I can look over your photos, suggesting how to improve.

Need help with digital editing? No problem! I can show you how to remove red eye, how to change your photographs to punchy black and white, and how to get rid of spots and bags under the eyes!

You really do not need to know anything about photography to benefit from this training, all you need is a passion for it!

• 10:30am to 2:00pm
• Available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday. Saturdays on special request.

Hourly private tuition: only £55 per hour
Private lesson via Zoom: only £45 per hour

My full day photography course - Getting Off "Auto", is great value as it covers everything you'll need to start taking fantastic photographs in just one day!

Alternatively, if you are not a beginner the hourly option gives you the flexibility to fit photography training around your current schedule, and you can focus purely on the areas you need the most help with.

As a graphic designer, I needed a refresher course on how to use shutter speed and aperture for creative purposes. I had a 1-day workshop with Rachel which was fantastic – a short chat at first going over how camera settings work followed by an outing into the city to put the theory into practice.
